Today was officially my first day back to Uni to completely my last semester ever, time really does fly! I don't know how I managed to have the time to take some outfit photos this morning but I really wanted to feature a few of my new purchases. One of my most recent purchases are these amazing Topshop gingham jeans which are part of the 'Joni' high-waisted range. They are really stretchy so comfortable to wear during the day and the gingham pattern is really on trend for this season. I love printed trousers at the moment for both the daytime and evening so these are a perfect addition to my wardrobe. I've worn them with my new Asos vest which is just a basic vest that I purchased in a few different colours. I really like the simplicity of the vest and the high-neckline shape is something which I find really easy to wear whilst still looking smart.

Although I find that Topshop is kind of lacking in the clothing department at the moment, I absolutely love some of their new nail polish shades. The other day I picked up 'Jump' which I featured in my last post and also 'Buck Naked' which I'm wearing here. If you've followed my blog for a while you'll know that I love pretty much anything and everything nude/ neutral toned. 'Buck Naked' is a very light nude shade with a more cream undertone rather than orange or brown. I just love the glossy effect of the Topshop nail polishes, I never need to apply a topcoat and the strong staying power means they never seem to chip.

Now the sales have finally started to clear out, I've been looking at the new season collections more and my shopping habit is back to normal! I picked up this Topshop draped blouse last week after recently spotting it on line. It's not something I would usually choose as I haven't worn blouses for ages after wearing them to work every day last year. However, I really like the casual style of this blouse and it looks very soft and feminine. It's also available in a range of different colours and I ended up purchasing the cream version today (oops!). I'm also wearing my new River Island neoprene boots which I searched high and low for before they entered the sale. I managed to find them online and they had been reduced from £70 to £35 which was a great bargain. I love the muted taupe shade of the boots and the panelled style makes them look really unique.

I've purchased far too many faux fur bags over the past few months but this Asos marabou fur shoulder bag is by far my favourite. I can't even remember how much this was as I bought it quite a while ago but I think it was around £40. I'm a huge fan of mink/ nude/ taupe shades so this colour is right up my street and goes with basically everything in my wardrobe. I'm not sure if they still have it on the website  but if you search 'marabou fur' or look in the handbag section you may be in with some luck!

P.S. If you could fill in this survey about fashion blogging for my dissertation I would be very grateful, thanks! click here :)

Shirt Dress

Just a quick one today as I'm currently in the process of packing up my entire bedroom to move back to Leeds later on. I can't actually believe this will be my final semester as a student, crazy how fast things fly by these days! Yesterday I just went for a little shopping trip to pick up some last minute bits and bobs to take back to Uni with me. I opted for this Topshop oversized checked shirt which I can get away with wearing as a dress as I'm so short! It's actually quite short at the sides but I've worn some really thick black opaque tights with it which basically resemble leggings. I love oversized garments like this for lazy days when I can't really be bothered to think about planning an outfit!

I've also got round to re-doing my nails and chose this lovely shade 'Jump' by Topshop. The colour is a really vibrant shade of pink/ coral which really stands out from the nail and makes a statement. I don't usually wear bright colours on my nails, especially shades of pink so this is a big change for me! I also think it's nice to brighten up any dull Winter outfits and shows that bright shades of coral don't have to be saved for the Summer months.

Seasonal Stripes

dress: urban outfitters
boots: zara
handbag: michael kors
fedora: topshop
necklace: asos
bracelet: asos
watch: michael kors

I've now managed to get my life back on track after my ridiculous amount of work so blogging has become my priority at the moment! I felt really guilty about abandoning it so much over the holidays but it's pretty hard to juggle when you have so many other things going on at the same time. I'm fed up of wearing jeans and layers upon layers at the moment so today I opted for this Urban Outfitters sleeveless striped dress which I bought during the Summer. Although it's pretty cold, I wore it with my faux fur River Island coat but just didn't include it in the photographs as you couldn't see any of the dress. I don't often wear stripes as I find them too unflattering but I do like simplistic and subtle striped patterns like this. The stripes are places so closely together and are so thin they almost create a blurred effect. I've worn it with some thick black tights and my usual Zara cleated sole ankle boots which have been my go-to shoe over the past few months. I've also worn my Topshop fedora hat which doesn't get much use when I'm in Leeds as it's sooo windy!

I'm giving my nails a rest at the moment hence why today's post is lacking a nails/ hand photograph. I haven't given them a break from falsies in so long they literally resemble paper! I'm planning on leaving my nails till Friday so they can have a little breather and use the Sally Hansen Nail Growth and Strengthener every day to make them feel a little stronger and healthier. Can you recommend any good nail products which help to improve brittle/ worn down nails?

Lusting After #57

Over the sale period I haven't been too thrilled with the what's currently in the shops so this is my first 'Lusting After' post in a while. Let's start off with River Island who I really think have stepped up their game recently. I absolutely loveeee this River Island high neck crop top paired with the cream PVC skirt and mule style heels. I always find River Island sizes really unpredictable so I'm reluctant to purchase any of this online and haven't seen the pieces in store yet. I love anything PVC at the moment and this high-shine mini skirt is sure to make a statement on a night out. I also think these mule style heels are very Kurt Geiger-esque and look much more expensive than £50.

Next up with Topshop is this amazing cage style bralet which is a little risqué for some occasions but could be worn underneath a sheer t-shirt for a more covered up look. I also really like Topshop's printed tops at the moment including this leaf print silk t-shirt and cropped monochrome floral print top. They are so easy to wear with some black skinny jeans or a high-waisted skirt and look very effortless but effective. I've tried to leaf print silk t-shirt on in store and I would definitely recommend sizing down as I find it to be quite oversized.

I'm on the hunt for the perfect 22nd birthday outfit at the moment and I would love to wear a jumpsuit that wasn't too long or unflattering. I really like this Miss Selfridge frill jumpsuit as I think the fitted shape would make it look more flattering and the frill across the bust would accentuate the waist. I'm not familiar with Miss Selfridge sizes and can't be bothered faffing around with refunds so I'll be waiting for this beauty to hit the stores. I also really love this Miss Selfridge playsuit for a more casual day time occasion. The fluted sleeve shape really caught my eye and I think this would look lovely with a fedora hat and some chunky style boots.

Last up we have a few accessories with this amazing Kate Spade statement necklace which is just to die for. I found it whilst browsing the Selfridge's jewellery section but I'm sure you could find alternative stockists or on the Kate Spade website. It's priced at £230 which is wayyyy out of my price range but it would make a lovely gift for somebody special. I'm also loving this Zara monochrome clutch bag as it's so simplistic and would be useful for nights out and dinner events. I always tend to lean towards larger clutch bags as I take so many bits and bobs with me on a night out so this would be perfect!

Statement Trousers

watch: michael kors

nails: topshop 'chase'
lips: mac 'double shot'

I've finally finished all of my current university projects so blogging may become a little more frequent over the next couple of weeks! I've also bought quite a lot of new things lately so hopefully I'll be able to post a 'Today I Bought' pretty soon when I've got the time. One of my most recent purchases has been these River Island floral print trousers which I can't stop wearing. I love a pair of bold printed trousers, I think they make such a statement and can actually look really flattering on many body types. I think these were priced around £30 but I can't seem to find them on the website so I'm not 100% sure. If you're interested in purchasing these, I would definitely consider sizing down as I ended up buying a size 6 which I'm definitely not!

I'm also wearing one of my favourite lipsticks which is Mac 'Double Shot'. Not many people wear brown shades of lipstick but I'm absolutely obsessed at the moment! 'Double Shot' is quite a dark shade of brown and is part of the Amplified collection so the colour is very bold on the lip. I usually use a lightweight gloss over the top just to stop the lipstick from drying out and keep my lips in good condition. I would highly recommend using Hourglass No.28 Lip Treatment Oil which is amazing at keeping your lips moisturised with a high glossy effect.

Big Bang

I've spent the last few days being a totally recluse finishing my university work so treated myself to a trip to the Bullring. I bought this Zara floral top during the Summer but I still think it's quote versatile to wear during the Winter too. I've worn it with my new Asos Ridley ripped jeans which I also own in a lighter shade of denim. I've worn them to absolute death to this darker pair will be a great addition for toning down lighter outfits like this. For anybody interested in purchasing these, I would say the sizings are pretty true to the Topshop denim sizing chart with the optional waist and leg lengths. I'm also wearing my Zara gold strap boots which I bought whilst I was in Marbella during the Summer. As much as I love these boots, the metal strap across the front is quite tight so these aren't as comfortable as I would like them to be!

I've always been a big fan of red lips but I just find they usually get quite messy if you're going for lunch or dinner and tend to smudge easily. I also suffer from quite dry lips during the Winter and I find the worst lipsticks for this are Mac. I picked up the Rimmel Apocalips 'Big Bang' lip lacquer last week as when these first launched I was really pleased with a couple of shades I bought. I find the colours are really bold and stay on the lip for a long amount of time. I also used a Kevyn Aucoin lip liner to prevent the colour from bleeding and give the lip a neatened edge. I'd highly recommend this lip lacquer if you're wanting to achieve the perfect red lip with a strong colour and glossy finish.

2014

So I realise it's been a ridiculously long amount of time since I last posted on here...and that is due to a mixture of reasons. Mainly because I've been completely preoccupied with university work over the holidays and also just wanting to spend less time on my laptop as I feel like my whole day is spent either working or blogging! I've also not been seeing much in the shops that I like lately so my outfits tend to have been much the same over the past few weeks.

I purchased this French Connection diamond print top whilst I was working at the design headquarters last year in one of their incredible sample sales. It's one of those tops which isn't bang on trend which means I can wear it pretty much any time of the year and it probably won't date. I've worn it with my River Island waxed jeans which have fast become my favourite pair of jeans over the past month or so. I love the subtle shine leather effect and I remember them being a great bargain around the price of £25. I'm also debuting my brand new Michael Kors watch which my lovely mother bought for me as a Christmas present. I'm not sure what the style of the watch is called but I haven't seen it in any of the shops as I think it was ordered from an American store. I love the simplistic wrap around style, it's much more subtle than my previous Michael Kors watch and more suitable for wearing during the day.

I've become reallyyyy lazy with my nails lately so I've actually had this Ciate polish on for the past few weeks, which just goes to show how well it has lasted! I've always been a huge fan of white nails and I feel like this pearly shade is more suitable for the Winter season. I'm also wearing my favourite Mac 'Mocha' lipstick which is a great subtle dark shade if you're afraid of jumping in at the deep end with a dark brown or burgundy colour.
