Unfortunately I am still at home, caught this horrible virus which has been going around that I was bound to get as my immune system is awful! I was meant to be travelling back down to London today but really didn't feel up to it so I've got a few more days at home to recover and be waited on hand and foot! I haven't got my camera or anything with me as I was only meant to stay for the weekend so this outfit post is one from last week which I didn't get round to posting due to Fashion Week.

I very rarely shop in Primark, not because of the cheap prices or anything but just because I never really find anything in there that I like. So, it's pretty rare you will catch me in an outfit featuring two Primark pieces! I bought this doggy blouse ages ago and I have to admit, it has stood the test of time as I've worn it many times and it's still in mint condition. I love the french bulldog print, it's a really cute look and ideal for workwear or a daytime outfit. I've tucked in into my pleated pleather skirt which is also a really old purchase but one that I still love. It comes in so handy on days when I'm fed up of wearing leggings and it is so versatile. I've worn it to work, shopping trips, nights out and even on holiday so it really is suitable for any occasion and can be dressed up or down in so many ways.

These photographs were taken a while ago, since then I've gone slightly blonder and had all of my extensions re-done which is the best feeling in the world! I always get asked questions like "Well, aren't they so expensive?", "Don't they pull your hair out?", "They don't last that long, do they?", but frankly I couldn't live without them! Yes, they are expensive. But mine tend to last me around 6-7 months (if maintained well) and they actually end up protecting my real hair as this is covered by the extensions. I've never experienced any loss or damage of my hair but I guess it depends what suits your hair type and the look you are wanting to achieve. For anybody who is interested, my extensions are by a brand called Great Lengths which are probably the best quality out there at the moment but they are pretty pricey. Unless you have thin, wispy hair like me and want to achieve a fuller and longer look, you can always use clip-ins which I find work just as well but are quite uncomfortable and fiddly. If you have any further questions feel free to send me an email!

Apologies for the lack of posts over the past couple of days, I've had to come home for a family thing so everything has been a bit up in the air! I'm quite behind on my outfit posts so this one has rolled over from last week. I'm a complete idiot and actually left the house like this without a coat when the temperature was -2, typical me! I've never been one to load on the layers cause I get hot really quick but I'm usually a tad more sensible than this.

I was dying for a cute bobble hat over the Winter months but before I got around to buying one I found that the season was nearly over! I really wanted one with a huge rabbit fur bobble but most shops didn't stock them any more or had run out. I settled with this black one from Oasis which was in the sale for £5. I'm not a hat person but for days when my hair is messy and I'm too lazy to do anything with it, it's so easy to stick this one. I paired it with my oversized checked shirt which is so casual and cosy, a definite keeper for the Summer months too with denim shorts.

I'm crazy about this Topshop 'Macaroon' lipstick at the moment which is a candy pink shade that isn't too overly vibrant. I find the texture to be very creamy, however it does dry out my lips a bit but then again that could just be the weather! I've been using this a lot recently with Vaseline over the top to give some more shine and moisture which works well.

I'll be back to my normal self and posting most days by the end of the week. I'm actually really annoyed with myself that I didn't bring my camera/ tripod home with me as I've worn some pretty nice outfits I would've liked to include. Guess this just means I'll have to outfit repeat, shock!

The best of London Fashion Week

I thought I'd do a post featuring my favourite looks from London Fashion Week as there were so many amazing collections this season. I always struggle to choose my top collections as I love different ones for different reasons but I've managed to whittle it down to just four. Some of them I admire for their innovative creativity and others because I just want every single item in my wardrobe!

Topshop Unique

Unique nearly always manages to make it's way into my top collections, purely because I think the style is usually really wearable and not too over the top like many designs. This season, Unique chose to stick to mainly simple silhouettes and let the mixture of textures do the talking. A couple of prints were included like the arty floral print and an intarsia knit, with a splash of sparkle here and there. My favourite part of the collection was the pastel pink shades combined with mongolian fur thrown over the shoulder, definitely not a look for the faint-hearted (or messy!). I also really loved the use of patent leathers which really brightened the collection and added a punk vibe. I think the most impressive items were the coats - large oversized motorcycle coats with leather and fur and long tailored coats in blushes of pink and orange. I'd have it all in a heartbeat!

Burberry Prorsum

Burberry Prorsum is usually the most hyped and talked about show of the season and I don't tend to fall into it's trap. However, this season I was well and truly caught. The collection is called 'Trench Kisses' which took an ultra-feminine and kinky take on the classic style. Sheer latex was a pivotal point within the collection, featuring on the arms of trench coats, tight midi skirts and vest tops. The heart print was a definite favourite detail of mine, featured on knicker shorts underneath latex skirts and cute long-sleeved blouses. Towards the end of the show the big guns were brought out, in the form of Cara Delevigne and Jourdan Dunn wearing dresses which were to die for. If I had to pick between the two (well if I had the figure of either of them!) I'd pick the white and gold studded midi dress worn by Jourdan. I love how well the tailored shape fits the body and the simple silhouette is complimented by the detail of the embellihsment on top.

Giles

When I first watched the Giles show, I have to admit I was quite scared by the first look of the haunting model in the floor-length dress. However, as the collection continued I fell more and more in love! The collection had a very traditional feel to it but had been given a very modern twist. The traditional elements could be seen through the gold baroque laser-cut leather and the long silk dresses which featured in the most beautiful artistic prints. Then, a huge knitted beanie hat was just plonked on top, I absolutely love it! I actually really want one of the oversized beanies, however I'm not so sure I could pull off wearing it with an evening gown but I'll give it a go! I also loved the fuschia and lavendar oversized animal print which featured on structured mini dresses and cocoon shaped coats. You don't often see these prints used in Autumn/ Winter collections so if this is what's ahead, I can't wait!

Roksanda Ilincic

I usually find Roksanda Ilincic's collections absolutely amazing but more to the taste of an older lady, who has a more tradtional and domestic style. However, I was actually really impressed how youthful this collection was and surprised myself by picking out many items I would buy myself. I loved the predominant use of pink within the collection, I'm a sucker for light pastel shades so this suited me well. I find this a really unexpected shade to be used within an Autumn/ Winter collection and I love it. My favourite look is the oversized pink blush coat paired with the grey tartan print skirt. This is not an outfit I could ever wear due to my incredibly short limbs but it looks so sweet and elegant on the model. Another favourite is the pink PVC midi skirt with the silk pink t-shirt, such a simple and feminine look but still really modern and youthful.

So there you have it, my round up of my favourite looks from London Fashion Week, and what a week it has been! What were your favourite shows of the season?

Lusting after #36

sunglasses: kurt gieger
checked trousers: topshop

layered blouse: reiss
swallow ring: chloe
plaform heels: topshop
monochrome bag: h&m

I've been doing a lot of outfit posts lately so thought I'd switch things up a bit with a Lusting After post. I love doing these posts, it allows me to collect together everything that I want but also mourn over the fact I can't have it all! Entering a new season and the after-math of fashion week is a baaad time for my bank balance. I want so many items at the moment but I don't want to buy things that I will have gone off by the time Spring is properly here.

I think this little collection of goodies really epitomises the style I will be going for over the next couple of months. I'm really loving the smarter tailored look at the moment so these tapered trousers paired with a silk blouse and a statement necklace will be perfect. Monochrome has been a massive trend this season and I really want this Topshop Boutique necklace to wear with the big chunky platforms, frilly socks and a Sophie Hulme neon clutch (in my dreams!).

I still have a Harvey Nichols voucher left from my birthday a few weeks ago but I haven't seen much that I want to spend it on. I could either buy this gorgeous butterfly watch which I think will be so cute for Summer, or put it towards something more expensive like a handbag or shoes. Choices, choices, choices!

London Fashion Week Day #3

jumper: topshop
skirt: river island
boots: topshop
socks: topshop
necklace: H&M

lips: mac 'morange'

Yesterday I was lucky enough to receive a ticked for the Michael Van Der Ham show at London Fashion Week which I quickly snapped up. I've never attended a show at London Fashion Week so this was a monumental moment! The show was absolutely beautiful, I was really impressed by the vast use of different fabrics combined together in a single garment and the attention to detail. The theme of the clothing was very moody and dark but the mixed prints and use of appliqué bought the collection alive.

The thing I dislike about LFW is the fact you can put soo much thought into an outfit and when you get there you instantly wish you'd worn something else once you see everybody. For this reason, I didn't put that much thought into my outfit and just wore this cute monochrome jumper I bought over the weekend. This isn't something I would usually wear but I pictured it in my head with a little skater skirt and white socks and thought it would look good. I love the flash of orange along the hemline and cuffs, it just screams for a complimentary pop of colour on the lips or nails. I went for the lips and chose 'Morange' which is a very vibrant shade of orange, slightly darker than the neon orange of my jumper but still eye-catching.

I will be popping over to Somerset house today to snap some last street style shots for Styloko and do some last minute celeb stalking whilst I can! I've gone for an extra casual look today so hope I don't bump into anyone special. That's always the case though, isn't it?

Shine Bright

dress: zara
boots: topshop

bracelet: marc by marc jacobs

I've been busy trying to make sure all of my London Fashion Week outfits are posted on the right day so I have a few outfits left over from last week and the weekend to cover. I wore for a nice little shopping trip with my boyfriend to Westfield on Saturday, possibly my favourite place in the world! It's such a nice change from the pushing and shoving of Oxford Street. I much prefer shopping centres to street shopping anyway as everything is easier to find and I don't have the wind constantly messing up my hair!

I bought this dress before I went to Marrakech and intended to wear it whilst there but as usual I over packed and didn't wear 99% of what I took. The dress features a really subtle turquoise aztec style pattern which I think it really suitable for this time of year as it's not quite Summer but still time to bring the prints out. I paired it with this gorgeous colourful necklace which I've been wearing a lot of recently with slightly plainer outfits to jazz it up a bit. I love everything about this necklace and I can't wait to wear it with a beautiful maxi dress on the beach in the Summer, roll on!

I attended the New Look Fashion Week Refuel Room on Friday which was a great place to view the upcoming collection and also have a cheeky treatment or two! I had these cute little nail art pieces attached to my nails. I always used to take the time to create looks like this with my nails but lately I've become far too busy and impatient! I think they look really effective on top of the glitter and it has inspired me to try some new things on my nails every now and then. I also had my eyebrows dyed and shaped by HD Brows as they were in desperate need of some love and attention! They took the arch of my eyebrow further outwards to open up my eyes more and dyed them darker to match my skin tone more. I'll definitely be visiting their store on Marble Arch to have another session!

London Fashion Week day #2

blouse: mango
trousers: river island
shoes: kurt geiger
necklace: topshop
bracelet: marc by marc jacobs
ring: marc by marc jacobs
watch: michael kors
lips: mac 'viva glam nicki 2'
nails: m&s autograph 'antique pink'
toes: topshop 'chase'

So this is quite an unexpected look from me, right? I'm usually a leggings kind of girl but I felt I should join the printed tapered trouser trend as they're set to be pretty big this season. I wasn't sure I had the right body type for this shape of trouser as I have quite short legs and wide hips. I actually think the pattern distracts away from the body shape and feel flatters the legs. Obviously there are particular patterns which can lengthen the legs like vertical stripes but I think this pattern works all over due to the mix of shapes used. I paired it with this studded blouse which I tucked into the waistband to create a smart and tailored look. I wasn't sure if adding a statement necklace may be a little too much but looking at these photographs I think it really brings the outfit together. If you can't go all out during Fashion Week, when can you?

I was in desperate need of a pair of day sandals with a slight heel to pair with leggings and dresses to create a smarter look than my usual AA dancing shoes. I found these beauties in Kurt Geiger and since I still had my £25 Elle voucher I thought I would put it to good use. I love the double gold buckle detail on the sides and they are a nice delicate change from my usual chunky heels. I'm not sure if I'm quite ready to venture into the stiletto regions yet but these are a step in the right direction.

I'm back at London Fashion Week tomorrow, possibly attending the Michael Van Der Ham show which will be incredible and doing my usual street style work for Styloko. I'm absolutely loving this change of work at the moment and really don't want it to end! It's so nice to be involved in something I love so much and I just feel really lucky to have had the opportunity to be a part of it this year. And may there be many more!

London Fashion Week Day #1

Wow, what an incredible experience at my first ever London Fashion Week today! I've always dreamt of being amongst the buzz, witnessing the street style and watching the shows so today that finally came true. I'm currently interning with Styloko - an online personal shopping website which brings all of your favourite retailers together in one place. The website also features a personal boutique section to share your favourite pieces with others and a fashion blog. As part of the fashion blog, I was taken to LFW as part of press to photograph the street style, manage the Instagram/ Vine for the website and generally spread the word. This was just up my street as I love fashion photography and people-watching is my all time favourite hobby! I got to meet the likes of the Made in Chelsea crowd along with other fashion followers which was really exciting. To view any of my snaps follow my Instagram (@lydiafayejones) and visit Styloko.com within the next few days as they are posted.

There was sooo much pressure to don my best outfit for LFW but I knew whatever I wore I would regret once I saw everyone else! I wasn't going to be the girl who shows up in a mini dress and skyscraper heels so I opted for a comfortable but vibrant outfit. I featured this neon green blouse not so long ago but it matched so perfectly with this printed skirt, I couldn't resist allowing it another outing. I love the subtle neon detailing of the skirt and it can be worn in so many different ways. I also wore my Jovonista boyfriend style jacket which hasn't featured for a while but is still one of my all time favourites. I love the slouched style of the sleeves towards the cuffs and the fabric is ultra soft.

I'm hopefully attending a couple of shows at LFW next week so I'm going to spend this weekend planning my outfits so I don't have a last minute panic again! I'm toying with doing a post about some of the street style snaps I captured over fashion week at the end of the week, would this be something that would interest you?

Céline me alone

t-shirt: ebay
jeans: topshop
shoes and laces: american apparel
necklace: topshop
bracelets: both marc by marc jacobs
watch: michael kors
ring: marc by marc jacobs
lips: rimmel apocalips 'stellar'
nails: models own 'pink fizz'

Happy Valentine's day! This is the first time I've actually had a boyfriend during this time of year so my expectations are high. Anything less than a rose petal bubble bath and a diamond ring will not suffice! I'm joking, I think we are actually staying in with a chinese takeaway and a dvd, how romantic!

My outfit is not exactly Valentine's Day themed as this is something I wore a couple of days ago but I've been slightly behind on my posts. I bought this t-shirt off eBay as I'd been hunting one down for ages and can't afford the real deal. With simple items like this, I really don't mind wearing 'copies' or 'fakes' as you can't really tell the different and they will go out of fashion pretty quickly anyway. I went for the casual look with my acid wash Jamie jeans which I've been wearing a lot since I bought them a few weeks ago. I have a similar Leigh pair with are slightly darker but these are better for the Spring season.

I've been loving the Rimmel Apocalips collection over the past couple of weeks. I'm incredibly impressed with their staying power and how strong the colour comes out on the lips. My favourites are 'Luna' which is a  bright peachy tone and 'Stellar' which is a really bright pink shade. I'm wearing 'Stellar' in this outfit post as I think it brightens up the outfit a bit and really stands out.

I'm going to be taking street style shots for LFW this upcoming week for Styloko which is a website I am currently interning for. I've never really been involved in LFW apart from gazing at the photographs wishing I could own every item of clothing! So, this will be pretty exciting and something different from my usual day in the office.

Move along

shirt: topshop
leggings: american apparel
socks: h&m
shoes: american apparel
bag: céline
necklace: new look
watch: michael kors
bracelet: marc by marc jacobs
ring: marc by marc jacobs
feather earring: french connection (sample sale)
lips: rimmel apocalips 'luna'
nails: models own 'pink fizz'

I tried on this shirt months ago whilst mooching around Topshop and made the fatal error of not purchasing it there and then. It completely disappeared from every store after that and I had no way of tracking it down which resulting in me lusting after it even more. I finally found they had re-stocked it within the Knightsbridge branch and snapped it up to avoid making the same mistake again. I bought a size 8 and as you can see the style is very oversized and quite long in length but I think it's meant to give off the whole 'I'm wearing my boyfriend's shirt' look. I do really like the oversized style but sometimes I feel certain items swamp me as I'm so short! However, this is perfect.

I'd also like to express my love for this new Models Own nail polish I received in a little mini set for my birthday. 'Pink Fizz' is a really iridescent pink glitter but not so in-your-face pink which suits me. I found that it gave me a full and thick glitter coverage after just two coats and no chipping have occured so far which is good. I find it looks really effective on the nail and compliments the rose gold tones of my jewellery well. I'm not so sure I'll have such a pleasant experience trying to remove it though...!
