Today I Bought #55

Hope everyone is enjoying this glorious weather! I had a massive haul on Friday so thought I'd share with you some things I've bought as I often get requests for this kind of post. I didn't purchase all of these items on Friday...but I'm ashamed to admit most! I'm still unsure about a few things I've bought, I'm a serial refunder so not all of these will be keepers.

floral t-shirt: zara (sale), floral and lace dress: forever 21

First up, I hit the Zara sale for the second time as I didn't find it that impressing first time round. I managed to find this cute floral t-shirt which I've seen the shorts version of before. I really like the bold floral print and it's very wearable for during the day just with some shorts or jeans. The fabric is quite thick and heavy so it's not something I'll be wearing until it cools down a bit. I'm not really a Forever 21 fan as I find it's quite mish mash and you have to have a lot of patience in order to find something good. However, I saw this floral and lace dress on the mannequin and it was love at first sight! It's completely sheer so I guess I'll wear it on holiday over a bikini or possibly wear a little nude slip underneath if I end up wearing it back in the UK.

lime top: topshop, knitted lace jumper: topshop

We all know just how much I love a good Topshop haul so you won't be surprised to see a few purchases from there! The lime burnout shell top isn't something I would usually go for but I thought it would be a simple and 'go-to' addition to my wardrobe. It's nothing really special but I think it would look nice on warmer days tucked into a maxi or just with some casual Levi shorts. I also picked up this adorable cropped knitted jumper which I nearly bought in a lemon shade months ago. It was £34 which I think is a little over-priced but the peachy pink colour won me over!

 knitted t-shirt: forever 21, floral t-shirt: primark

The striped knitted t-shirt was another item picked up from Forever 21 after spending nearly an hour in there! It just caught my eye for some reason, you can't really see the details in this photograph but up close you can see different colours within the yarn. I'm loving Primark at the moment and found this floral placement cropped t-shirt in my local store. I like how the bold colours within the print contrast against the black background, it's really eye-catching when you put it on. I seem to buy so many crop tops and never get much use out of them! So from now on, I'm vowing to try alternative ways of wearing crop tops to find a look which isn't just suitable for holidays or hot days.

lime crop top: topshop, grey lace crop top: asos

Another item I picked up in my Topshop haul was this basic lime crop vest which I already own in a bright coral shade. I featured this top in one of my outfit posts recently and I really liked the simple shape and cut. I'll probably wear this lots on holiday just to wear over a bikini during the day for a casual look. I also ordered this grey lace crop top from the Asos sale as it had been reduced to £7. Grey has always been one of my favourite colours to wear so this immediately caught my eye. I've already worn it once just with a maxi skirt during the day, I didn't take any photographs but I'll be sure to feature it soon.

neon orange crop top: forever 21, fringe swimsuit: primark

I'm aware this Forever 21 orange crop top is probably meant to be worn as a sport's bra but I couldn't help adding it to my growing collection of crop tops! I love this shade of orange - it's sort of neon but pastel at the same time if that makes sense? I doubt I'll wear it on it's own, probably underneath a kimono style jacket with denim shorts or something. I also picked up this incredible fringe swimsuit for £13 which I couldn't believe was in Primark! It was hanging all alone which probably meant most sizes had sold out but luckily mine was left! I don't actually own a swimsuit, I won't wear it when sunbathing as I hate tan lines but this will be useful for beach clubs or wearing as a top underneath shorts or skirts.

sheer coral maxi: american apparel, beige side split maxi: river island (sale)

I've added a few more maxi skirts to my holiday wardrobe, first up is this American Apparel sheer coral maxi which I also own in black. This bright shade of coral is probably my favourite shade for this Summer and I love a good sheer maxi. I know they're quite difficult to wear, especially if you're not on holiday, but I usually just wear knicker shorts underneath. I also bought this River Island beige maxi skirt in the sale which had been reduced from £25 to £10. I'd tried to buy it online but all sizes sold out so I managed to find it in my local River Island store. I usually stick to my Primark black cotton maxi on holiday so this will be a good alternative option.

fluoro mesh skirt: topshop, pleather trousers: zara (sale)

It's my boyfriend's birthday today so I was busy searching for a nice outfit although it's such a struggle when all the sales are on! I ended up buying this Topshop fluoro mesh body con skirt which I thought would look good with some form of crop top and statement jewellery. I also picked up these pleather trousers in the Zara sale which I've wanted for ages but didn't fancy dishing out £40. It also seemed like a waste of money when the weather is so hot at the moment, but as they were reduced to £17.99 I thought they would be a good investment for the Winter.

white block heel sandals: river island

I've wanted these River Island white block heels for soooo long now but could never find them in store. I refuse to purchase shoes online as I can be between a size 5 or 6 so I was delighted to find these in the Bullring store. I love the minimalistic style of these shoes and the small block heel will make them ideal for during the day. I might actually take these on holiday with me to wear during the evenings as well just as an alternative to flat sandals.

 clutch bag: primark

I don't need any more clutch bags in my life, but couldn't resist this Primark wicker beauty! It's quite large in size but I think it would come in so useful for evenings as I tend to take a lot of stuff out with me. For £5 it was an absolute bargain and even if I don't get that much use out of it after my holiday I won't feel too guilty. I have some Topshop shoes which feature this identical wicker pattern so these will go great together with a nice Summer dress and statement jewellery.

 necklace: zara

Speaking of statement jewellery, I was so happy to finally get my hands on this gorgeous Zara necklace! I love these big colourful gemstones, I have a River Island necklace which is kind of similar and I wear it all the time on holiday. This one is slightly more understated and could be worn any time of the year. It really stands out on the neckline with the different coloured gem stones and jazzes up any outfit.

 earrings: river island

Similarly, I was really drawn to these large statement earrings by River Island for exactly the same reasons. I just can't resist a colourful gem stone! I usually stick to simple gold hoops but I guess I should try and experiment with some other styles of earrings. Although these are a massive first step, I think they are absolutely beautiful and can't wait to wear them with a simple maxi dress.

eyeshadows: mac 'mythology' and 'naked lumch', mac 217 blending brush

After watching some recent youtube videos, I thought I would invest in the Mac 217 blending brush which is apparently great for creating smokey eye looks. I usually just use the brush that comes with the Urban Decay Naked Palette but this doesn't blend together different shades very well. I also stocked up on my all-time favourite eyeshadow 'Naked Lunch' which is a light shimmer shade. When I had my make-up done at Mac for my 21st, they used this as a highlighter on my lid and down the centre of my nose and it worked wonders! I highly recommend this if you want a eyeshadow which has a high shimmer effect and can also be used as a highlighter in certain areas. I also picked up 'Mythology' which is a deep bronze shade to use all over the lid and for creating smokey brown eyes.

lipstick: smashbox 'mimosa'

Last up we have another addition to my recent Smashbox collection - 'Mimosa' which is a very vibrant coral/ orange shade. It's a long lasting lipstick so I guess it's meant to last for around 8 hours but I haven't actually tried it yet! I've been really impressed with the Smashbox products that I've tried so far and really like the colours used within their collections. I've just picked up the new Smashbox Heatwave eyeshadow palette so expect a review for that coming very soon!
