I can't believe it's Christmas already, I've barely had time to get in the festive spirit! I don't tend to follow the festive trends during the Christmas period, I'm already sick of tartan and chunky knits so last night I went for something a litre different. We followed our family tradition and had dinner/ drinks with some old family friends down in the local village. I opted for this River Island neon pink and nude panelled vest which I ordered a few days ago via Asos. I really like the combination of neon pink/ nude together, it's so simple but really effective. I've worn it with my River Island leather trousers which were probably my best investment of the season. I get sooo much wear out of these bad boys and I actually find them really flattering. Although slightly squeaky when walking, they're a great cheaper alternative to splashing out on a pair of real leather trousers.

I'm also wearing my Kurt Geiger heels which I purchased a while back now, think it was around February time. I haven't had much wear out of these as they're not really high enough for nights out so tend to only be worn for dinners or special occasions. They're a great shoe for jazzing up any outfit and adding a touch of sophistication. I love the double buckle detailing on the side, can't wait to start wearing them more often once the weather warms up next season!

I visited the Bullring a few days ago in the hope of finding something nice to wear on NYE, instead I ended up buying absolutely everything but that! One of the things I purchased was this River Island faux fur collar jacket which I'd seen on the website a few days before hand. I love anything with a fur collar at the moment that can keep me warm so this was the perfect addition to my Winter wardrobe. The jacket itself is a very lightweight fabric, I'd say it's more like a thick cardigan so it's suitable for wearing during the daytime and evening. I was also really surprised that it was only priced at £40? To me that seems quite cheap for River Island as a lot of their new items seem to be slightly pricey. I'm also wearing my Topshop turtleneck top which has become a favourite of mine over the past few months. I tend to send anything with a high collar orange so this can be a bit of a disaster but nevertheless I love the look of polo necks. I don't think they actually stock this top anymore but I'm sure you could find similar ones amongst the high street at the moment.

I've finally got round to changing my nails after farrrr too long and decided to go for this Topshop 'Daredevil' shade which is a very dark glittery purple. I'm really into my dark nails during the Winter months and they are so practical as they don't tend to dull after time. I applied two coats and then used my Essie top coat to keep them looking shiny and sparkly. Mac 'Velvet Teddybear' is another recent purchase from my Mac haul last week. 'Velvet Teddybear' is a light brown with a pinky tone and has a matte finish so I usually add a little bit of gloss to prevent my lips from drying out.

Spots & Checks

I'm finally back home for the first time in months and it's actually the best feeling in the world! The heating is on full blast, the fridge is stocked up to the brim and I'm starting to feel slightly festive. Last night was spent catching up with some old friends and I didn't realise how cold it would be once I stepped out, hence my choice of a cropped jumper and mini skirt! I wear this Zara polka dot jumper all the time, probably too often but I just love the simplicity of the style and it's so easy to wear. I tend to wear it with a skirt such as this River Island wet look skater skirt which I've had for years. This always comes in handy during the Winter for layering underneath chunky jumpers. Although this is really old there are still hundreds of similar wet look skater skirts out there at the moment and probably cheaper alternatives.

I've mentioned my recent obsession with brown lipstick at the moment and 'Double Shot' is another addition to my ever-growing collection. Double Shot has an amplified finish so the colour is very strong and bold on the lip. The shade is a very molten dark brown so it's not one for the faint-hearted! I think a brown dark lip is such a great alternative to the usual dark purple shade and still gives off the same effect, if not slightly more sophisticated and less vibrant!

Ruthless

Note to self: NEVER wear a hat in Leeds! I've spent most of the day holding onto my hat rather than productively Christmas shopping, always forget how windy it can be up North. I haven't worn my Topshop fedora in a while and I was getting pretty fed up of always wearing my hair up so this is an easy alternative. I'm also wearing my new Missguided dress which has a sort of bandage pattern and is really easy for just wearing during the day. I've been looking for a long-sleeved daytime dress for a while now so this one fits the bill perfectly. I've worn it with my favourite River Island mongolian fur bag which for those of you who don't know, I purchased off Ebay a few months ago as it's from a few seasons ago.

I've been really lazy with my nails lately, mainly because I am absolutely loving this Topshop nail polish in the shade 'Ruthless'. I love a good dark nail during the Winter months so this is the perfect gothic shade. It's an extremely dark shade of purple, which actually looks a lot lighter in my photographs due to the bright flash on my camera. I've always loved Topshop nail polish, I find they always get the perfect shade and they apply very thick so only a couple of coats are needed. I apply the polish to my false nails so never experience any chipping, I can't really vouch for how good they are on natural nails!

I've been so behind with my posts lately and feel like I'm really lacking with my 'Lusting After' and 'Today I Bought' posts. This week is my last week at Uni before the holidays and I've been bombarded with work and projects to be finished by the end of the semester. Once the holidays begin and I'm slightly more free I'll have much more time to create varied posts! Anyway, the outfit I'm wearing is really different to what I've been wearing lately. Due to the freezing weather and stupidly strong winds I've strayed away from dresses/ skirts and stuck to the safer option of jeans. However, I couldn't resist bringing out this lovely Asos floral number which I wore to the Burberry Prorsum show back in September. I love the hints of neon in this dress, even though floral prints can be quite Summery, I feel like this has a really Winter look to it. I've worn it with my Accessorize faux fur collar which I purchased last Winter as an alternative to scarves. I'm not a big fan of chunky scarves as I hate having things round my neck so this is perfect. The fur is incredibly soft and although it's no longer available, I'm sure almost identical versions are around on the high street at the moment.

I mentioned in my last post that I had a naughty Mac splurge last week and purchased a few items including the Mac 'Verve' lipstick. This lipsticks is a really amplified dark brown shade and is something I have been after for a while. I'm kind of sick of the typical dark purple lip so this is a great alternative to still create the same effect. I featured 'Mocha' in my last post which is a lighter option if you don't fancy such a dramatic look. These dark shades can often be quite tricky to apply so I would advise also purchasing the Mac 'Hover' lip liner to create a neatened outline and prevent the outer edges from bleeding and smudging throughout the day.

Spring Chicken

How amaaaazing is this Topshop marabou fur cardigan?! I spotted it in the Leeds Trinity store a few weeks ago and just had to buy it. There was also a black version but I think this grey shade is more unique and enables to fur to stand out more. I'm completely obsessed with anything and everything marabou fur at the moment, it's so fluffy and soft! I'm also after the Topshop marabou fur clutch bag but it seems to have sold out in most stores so fingers crossed it pops up again soon. I've worn it over this Topshop floral cami which is more a winter floral with hints of neon. I think the print is also available in shorts and a kimono which could be great for creating a co-ordinated outfit. I'm also wearing my River Island waxed jeans which have a sort of leather-look effect to them. They're fairly new, think I bought them about a month ago and they were reduced to £25 which is always a bonus.

For the Winter season, I'm also loving a hint of brown on the lips which is a colour I've never experimented with before. After a naughty Mac haul last week, I ended up choosing 'Mocha' which is a lovely creamy brown shade that isn't too dramatic on the lip. I've been wearing this non-stop for the past week and use Mac 'Hover' lip liner to keep it looking neat and tidy. I've also invested in Mac 'Verve' lipstick which is a much darker shade that I will be showcasing tomorrow!

Massive apologies for being so MIA recently, last week I had an awful sickness virus so was literally bed-ridden for about 5 days! I'm back to full health now and celebrating tonight with some cocktails and sushi with the girls. I thought I'd brighten things up a little with my Zara neon jumper which I've worn endlessly over the past few months. I have this jumper in a range of colours as I find them so easy to wear and the colours are so bold. I'm also wearing my Asos Ridley jeans which I haven't taken off since I bought them a few weeks ago. I've featured them on my blog quite a lot recently but I just love the extreme ripped look at the moment.

I've never been much of a lipgloss girl but on a recent night out I wore this Mac 'Fashion Whim' lipgloss and actually really liked the effect. I must've purchased it over a year ago and found it whilst rummaging around the depths of my make up storage unit. I do like the pale lip look, but not too pale so a glossy finish prevents this from looking too chalky and blending in with your foundation. I'm all about the dark goth lip at the moment but sometimes that can be sooo impractical if you're off for a nice meal and don't want to be checking your smudges every bite!

Simple Pleasures

After a regretfully heavy weekend, this morning was one of those 'please don't make me get out of bed in the cold' times! I've spent the entire day in the studio making up my final designs into actually garments so as you can imagine, comfort is key. I've worn one of my favourite Topshop tunics which is incredibly simple and really easy to wear. The back panel is a pastel pink but I haven't managed to take any photos of it where at a good angle. I'm also wearing my trusty Zara blue denim jeans which I haven't stopped wearing for the past month or so. I've probably said this before, but they're the ideal faded blue skinny jean and seem to be of a good quality.

I bought these River Island knee-high boots a while ago and wore them in a recent blog post but you couldn't really see them against the black jeans I was wearing. Here they are much more visible although I still wasn't able to get a good shoe shot of them. I searched high and low for the perfect knee-high boot, the heel was too high on many and I was looking for something blocky and suitable for the day time. These were £100 which isn't exactly cheap but I'm hoping they last me a good few seasons!
