I've officially completed my first weekend as a London citizen and it already feels like home! I spent this weekend with my boyfriend exploring the city and being a general cringey London tourist. We visited Leicester Square last night for a nice meal and a stroll around the bars, I ended up ordering steak and chips so you can tell who wears the trousers in our relationship! I finally caved in and bought the AA disco pants which I've been umping and ahhing over for the past 2 years. I religiously wear my AA lycra leggings but the disco pants suck you in so much more and I find them really flattering. I wore these with a plain loose low-armhole vest and a light denim bow in my hair. I used to wear a nude version of this bow a few years ago but someone once told me they looked like ears which put me off! I added a pop of colour with the bright pink lip as the outfit itself is quite plain. I love this shade of lipstick and wish they still sold it so I'm gonna have to ration myself from now on!

(p.s. I'm really not happy with these photos, I've had to edit them quite a bit because of the lack of lighting in my flat so please bear with me until I find a better spot to take my photos!)

Autumn Shades

dress: topshop
cardigan: topshop
belt: topshop
shoes: ebay
ring: topshop
hair clip: boots

Oh dear, another outfit made up entirely of Topshop items but considering the majority of my wardrobe consists of Topshop clothes this is difficult to avoid! Saying that, I have actually really gone off Topshop at the moment, I haven't found anything I've really liked in there for a long time. I remember the days where I used to love absolutely everything but now I'm much more of a Zara or Urban Outfitters fan. This Peter Pan collar dress is ancient, I think I bought it about 3 years ago but I love the peach colour and it's easy to just throw on. I wore it with my nude studded waist belt as it is really short, infact I think it is actually a top but the belt helped keep it down whilst walking around. I paired this with some black tights and my oversized pattern cardigan which I haven't worn in ages either. It reminds me of those big cardigans you often find in Vintage shops, I love the diamond pattern and the slouchy style is comfortable and can be worn with pretty much everything.

I've been trying to break in these spiked leopard slippers for ages but every time I wear them they seem to rub the back of my heels even more. I thought the back of the shoe may soften up as I wore them more but looks like I'm just gonna have to wear plasters every time! I'm absolutely shattered after my first week of work in the real world, as much as I have enjoyed myself I'm glad I've got the weekend to chill. Today the office held a sample sale where all of the samples that have been made are sold to the employees for a mega discounted price. I ended up buying 4 dresses which are currently in the French Connection stores now and paid £30 for them instead of the retail price of £480, can't complain!

Another hard day at work, another outfit post...I'm definitely on a roll lately! I've also just got home and cooked myself a homemade pasta bake, housewife in the making? Maybe not just yet! I fancied going for a more casual look today rather than the use buttoned-up shirts and blouses I've been wearing everyday this week. I bought this grey t-shirt last week whilst I was still at home, I love the rolled up sleeves and I'm instantly drawn towards anything grey. These are what I call my 'squiggle leggings', they are just a nice change from my usual AA black lycra leggings and add something different to a plain outfit. I also thought I'd take the risk and wear heeled boots today for a change, I always feel really short and stumpy walking around in flats all day. Anyway, I took my flats in my bag just in case and had changed into them by lunchtime, life as a fashion intern involves too much running around for heels!

This necklace looks a bit skew whiff in the photographs because of the way it is sitting against the t-shirt, but it is actually symmetrical! I love the combination of rose gold, gold and silver that has been used within the design and a statement necklace always looks good with a plain top. I've also painted over my OPI gel manicure as I was getting slightly bored of the dark nude shade. I'm always changing my nails so maybe gels aren't really for me but I love the added strength they give to your nails and the fact the gel doesn't chip. I'm on the hunt for some new nail varnishes at the moment - probably nude/ peach shades or glitter based polishes so if anybody has any suggestions please let me know!

Diary of a fashion intern

jumper: american apparel
shirt: topshop
leggings: american apparel
boots: zara
necklace: topshop
ring: topshop

I'm officially living in London and working as an intern for French Connection, at last! I can't believe how quickly this has come around after a 4 month Summer holiday but I have to say it feels really good to actually be doing something productive with my days. I started on Monday so this is only my third day but so far everyone has been really friendly and I've been doing little jobs like researching the latest fashion shows for inspiration for the next collection, running many errands around the city and sorting out the sample clothing, can't complain! For someone who lives to shop, it is absolute torture being surrounded by so many beautiful new clothes everyday. Apparently the company hold sample sales fairly often and sell all of the new designs for a highly discounted price so when that day comes I will go wild!

I didn't take any outfit photographs for my first day of work as I was panicking I would be late and had no idea where the tube station was. This is the outfit which I wore yesterday, the dress code is 'casual' so I paired this cream fisherman knit jumper with a light denim shirt to create a smart but still easy look. Most people tend to wear jeans, t-shirts and cardigans but I love getting dressed up too much to just throw on a pair of jeans! Maybe the novelty will soon wear off...or I run out of clothes to wear! Saying that, wearing blouses/ shirts everyday is producing a huge pile of washing as I seem to turn every collar orange from my make-up, oops! Anyway, posts may be a little slow this week as I am still getting to grips with my camera, job and our internet isn't quite sorted yet so bear with me...

Late September

top: zara
leggings: american apparel
flatforms: river island
necklace: topshop
skull bracelet: marbella market
cross bracelet: topshop
ring: topshop
watch: michael kors

Just a quick one as I need an early night for the big move tomorrow, so nervous! Can't believe I'm officially going to be living in the Big Smoke for the next 9 months, definitely a massive change from the usual lazy student life! I went to my friend's 21st meal tonight in Brindley Place and made my usual mistake of thinking when the sun out it is automatically 30 degrees. I will definitely learn from this and force myself to take a jacket out from now on as much as I hate the idea of covering up my outfit! I bought this aztec print long t-shirt last Summer and wore it to V Festival as a dress but I swear it's shrunk in the wash since, definitely not appropriate anymore! I love the Autumn colours used within the print and it's so easy to wear with my beloved AA leggings or even tucked into a pair of shorts. I've been glued to these flatforms since I bought them a couple of weeks ago but I must remember to avoid cobbles when wearing them, nearly went flying in them tonight (not a cool look!)

I set up my new camera and tripod today, I was slightly apprehensive as I'm so used to how my camera makes me look and how to use the different settings but it was on it's last legs. I do really love the quality of this new camera though and it's so easy to use with the tripod which means I can do my photos on my own without bugging a friend to take them for me! The only problem is I can't work out how you set self-timer so that you can keep doing it without having to set it back to self-timer after each shot. If anyone else has a Lumix camera and knows how to do this, your help will be very much appreciated!

Lusting after #30

gilet: topshop
t-shirt: river island
flatforms: office
embellished shorts: miss selfridge
quilted shorts: river island
coat: topshop

I saw most of these items whilst I was having a little mooch around town today but decided not to purchase any and save my money. I figure London is going to make me oh so very poor so I need to save as much as I can before! I tried on this ombré faux-fur gilet and really liked the style, the only thing I don't like is how thick faux-fur gilets like this can make you feel quite big sometimes. It is priced at £65 which isn't too bad for Topshop so maybe when Winter comes I'll invest. I've also been trying to find some nice shorts for work which I can wear with black tights and blouses/ tops just to switch things up a bit from leggings all the time. I really like these leather-look quilted shorts but couldn't find them in the shop today and I want to try them on before buying as leather items like this can size up differently. The rest are items which I don't really need but if money was no object I'd have in an instant!

Boy-ish charm

jumper: topshop

necklaces: both topshop

Today has been a day of running errands and sorting out last minute things before the big move on Sunday. I managed to post most of my eBay sellings, considering I can't wrap presents to save my life and have never post so much as a letter I'm pretty proud of myself! I also went to have a new set of gels put on my nails just to give them some extra strength and they also don't chip which will be useful when I begin working. I'm pretty sure you can paint over the top of them with nail polish as well so I'll give this a go in the coming weeks.

I bought this jumper today whilst out on my travels, I've been eyeing it up for a while now so decided to bite the bullet. Many of the 'ombré' pieces I see these days just look really tacky but I love the shades of blue/ grey used within this knit and the yarn is also really soft so could be worn without anything underneath. I decided to wear a really light denim shirt underneath mine to create a boyish look. I paired it with these silk Topshop Boutique city shorts which I thought would come in useful for wearing to wear with a blouse tucked in or something. The dress code is 'casual' but you'll never catch me roaming around in a t-shirt and jeans!

Ignorance is bliss

No words can describe how cold I was in this outfit last night, since when did the evenings get so cold?! I always refuse to take a jacket with me on a night out whether it's freezing or snowing so I guess that's my own fault! I bought this nude crop top from an American Apparel concession in Selfridges, I love anything nude and tend to wear crop tops with skirts on a night out so this was right up my street. I was on the hunt for a new leather-look skirt recently, I have my pleated Primark pleather skirt but the pleats make it stick out and sometimes you can feel a bit like a tent! I came across this one in River Island a few weeks ago but the sizing was really strange, I'm usually a size 10 but had to buy a size 6 as they were so large so don't order online as this needs to be tried on first. I couldn't be bothered trekking around in massive heels all night so stuck to my classic Topshop boots with frilly socks combination, never lets me down!

I've mentioned previously that I'm moving to London on Sunday to begin my 9 months internship with French Connection. I'm living with a friend but it's going to be difficult to do outfit posts often as I'll be leaving the house early and nobody will around to take my photos. I'm in the process of purchasing a new camera/ tripod so I can do this myself without having to hassle a friend but it depends if the camera comes before I leave, fingers crossed!

Birds of a feather

top: topshop
leggings: american apparel
boots: zara
necklace: h&m
bracelets: topshop
ring: topshop
nails: essie 'sand tropez' and maybelline pro glitter top coat
lips: mac 'snob'

I'm very late uploading this post as my weekend turned out to be much busier than originally anticipated so this outfit is actually from Friday evening. I wore this to a casual meal at Zizzi's with a few of the girls and was in one of those moods where I wanted to make an effort but still feel comfortable. This loose fit style top is perfect for those occasions where you still want to look nice but can't be bothered to hold your food baby in all night! I love the elaborate bird print across the body of the top, it reminds me of those really detailed patterns you see in Japanese art or kimonos. I usually wear this with a pair of leggings but I have also worn it with a black body con skirt underneath or denim shorts. I'm useless in heels at the moment so have been living in my new rose gold Topshop studded flats but thought I'd bring out these Zara boots as they are fairly low heeled and instantly create a more glamorous look.

Just wanted to say thank you to anyone who purchased any of my shoes/ dresses off eBay over the past few days! After a very unstable relationship with eBay I have now decided it is my new best friend after earning nearly £200 which I promise is heading straight into my savings account and not being spent on more clothes that I don't need! Well, I say this now...

They call that jungle fever

cardigan: zara
flatforms: river island

nails: essie 'sand tropez' with maybelline express finish glitter top coat

I've been in a bit of a rut lately with outfits and deciding what to wear, this is partly because the weather is so indecisive and there is nothing in the shops that is catching my eye. I've also been wearing the same thing lately - different tops paired with my AA lycra leggings simply because they are so easy to wear and I'm being mega lazy! I bought this crop top during the Summer holidays and wore it quite often when I was in Marbella. I find crop tops can be quite different to wear with anything other than a floaty maxi skirt but this tube skirt and long cardigan combination is suitable for 'non-holiday' wear when the weather is still quite warm. I don't often wear this skirt because I find it difficult to walk in and feel like I'm waddling! I featured these new flatforms in my previous 'Today I bought' post and I genuinely haven't taken them off since I bought them. They are soo comfortable and give an alternative to wearing a heeled boot but still give the added height.

I've finally got round to taking the gold glitter gel off my nails, believe it or not these nails are actually my own yay! I planned to grow them over the Summer whilst I was in the sun and they have definitely become much stronger too. I've decided to just paint them myself for the next couple of weeks and see how they go in terms of weakness and length. If they start snapping off I may resort to having a gel applied again just to give my nails some strength but fingers crossed they will be okay, I've put a lot of effort into these babies!
