Lusting after #5

playsuit: stylestalker
boots: kurt geiger

Can't say I'm ecstatic to be back in Leeds, I've got a mountain of work to get through by tomorrow and internet shopping is too much of a distraction. I saw these shoe boots in Selfridge's this weekend and was really attracted to the gold metal pin heel. I tried them on and they were really comfortable and easy to walk in but the £220 price tag was slightly out of my price! I do love Kurt Geiger shoes, they are always good quality and don't rub my feet but sometimes I find the collections quite boring considering how expensive they can be. I came across the playsuit on the Stylestalker website but it's already sold out so I have no idea where else I can get it from. The print is a pastel version of the Reptile print which they also feature on some of their blouses and dresses and I also really like the spiked waist belt but doubt that is included. Anyway, I've got a long night ahead of me full of compiling referencing lists and researching how social media/ the olympics will affect fashion in 2012 so best get started...

No love lost

top: topshop
playsuit: h&m

earrings: urban outfitters

Sooooo happy to be home! Words cannot describe how much I have missed my mom's home cooking and the comfort of my own bed, as they say no place like home. I went with my mom to the Bullring and it was stupidly packed, had no idea it was half term I'm out of sync with everything when I'm up in Leeds. I wore my new Oversized Bird Print Top which I am I really pleased with, not only is the print much prettier than on-screen but the fabric is really soft and comfortable which makes it easy to wear. My mom loved it so much that she made me go and get her one from Topshop, but the cheeky buggars have put the price up to £28, I was not impressed at all! I wore it over my plain black playsuit and my brown chelsea boots which I feel like I've abandoned slightly ever since I bought my converse.

I was less than impressed with the Cross Skirt that I ordered from the Topshop website the other day, the fit was all wrong and the fabric was quite scratchy so I ended up returning it. I exchanged it for a pair of acid wash ankle jeans but I really don't suit jeans so I reckon I'll end up taking them back as well. I'm so jealous of girls with super long legs who can wear all these colourful/ printed jeans that are around at the moment! I also bought my Halloween outfit which I'm very excited about, I feel like a little kid carving pumpkins and hanging up cobwebs around the house. Heading back to Leeds tomorrow but I'm actually dreading it, this weekend has gone far too quickly and I'm not ready to face my mountain of work yet!

In two minds

jumper: primark
skirt: american apparel
headband: american apparel
necklaces: topshop
flower ring: topshop

My plan to get up early to finish off all my work failed miserably so looks like I'm going to be up till the early hours getting all that done. Luckily I've got the day off tomorrow and a huge list stuck on my wall on everything I need to do before I go home for the weekend. I can't wait to sleep in my own bed and not be woken up at 3am by techno music beating through the walls! I went into uni today for a lecture on 20th century fashion which was actually really interesting. It was all about how the power of designers has been lost to the power of models and photography rather than the actual clothing. I wore this jumper from Primark which can sometimes feel quite heavy but I was freezing today so it was exactly what I wanted. The skirt is actually a strapless dress but it always slips down so I folded the top over and just wore it as a skirt.

I also re-did my nails the other night as I feel like I've abandoned them lately and every time one falls off I just kept sticking it back on. I did the ombre style which I tried out a few months ago but also included an accent nail with glitter and a little flower to make it more interesting. I really like this accent nail trend at the moment and I'm glad it's catching on rather than people asking me why I've got one nail different from the rest. Anyway, I've got a long night ahead of me so best get cracking on!

Today I bought #3

t-shirt: topshop
skirt: topshop

I had a slight splurge on the Topshop website today, internet shopping is definitely my weakness especially when I've got no time to pop into town. The only thing I find annoying is not being able to try the clothes on as I'm never 100% sure what size I'm going to need and what the fit will be like. I saw this Bird Print Oversize Tee and was immediately drawn to the interesting print and slouched style. I own quite a few tops similar to this one because they can be worn with leggings in the day and then tights and heels on a night out so tick both boxes. I was also quite impressed with it being priced at £28 as sometimes Topshop prices can be really unpredictable. This Cross Embroidery Skirt was £36 and I've been looking for a skirt like this for a while but only really see the ones in American Apparel which are a similar shape and fabric but with no detail. I love the little beaded crosses and can picture wearing this during the day with baggy jumpers or blouses and my Topshop leather jacket.

I really need to do an outfit blog soon but to be honest I haven't really left the house much recently due to work overload forcing me to ditch my social life. I'm off for lunch with a friend tomorrow to give myself a little break so will try my best to take some photos before I leave the house and the wind destroys my hair which seems to be happening far too often in Leeds.

Positive thinking

jumper: topshop
skirt: primark
faux fur gilet: custo
boots: michael kors
necklaces: topshop

I'm proud to say I've walked 5 miles today instead of using my car as I've felt so lazy recently and don't want to turn into one of those students who just slobs around all day and stays in bed! I've promised my friend I'm going to join the gym with her as well so trying to be more healthy and stop relying on my car so much. I feel like it's a New Year or something and I'm starting a resolution! Anyway, so I've been dying to wear this faux fur gilet ever since I bought it from this little shop in Puerto Banus Marbella during the Summer. Don't ask why I was buying a faux fur gilet in 40 degrees heat but I saw it and fell in love. The shop was called Custo and mainly featured bright printed tops and crazy leggings but I have no idea if they have any in the UK. The weather has been so up and down lately but it was cold and sunny today so wore it over a thin black jumper and my leather pleated skirt from Primark which I recently bought.

I have so much work to do at the moment that I've got lists stuck to every single surface in my room but I just feel like curling up in my duvet and watching Gossip Girl. That's the problem when it's so cold, I always fancy an early night and then end up getting nothing done. I've got a productive day ahead of me tomorrow and then I'm heading out to celebrate a friend's birthday so something to get me through the day. Also, when I begin my uni design project in a couple of weeks I might start featuring some of my work on my blog. It's just to see what people think and also in case I decide to give links to my blog when I go for interviews for my placement year, exciting stuff!

Say something

jumper: forever 21
dress: topshop
jacket: h&m
faux fur stole: topshop

I feel like I haven't rested my feet at all today, not only is Monday one of my busiest days but it also happened to be absolutely freezing which made matters worse. I've finally got over my flu but dragging myself out of bed at 7am this morning was still not fun. Therefore I decided to wrap up nice and warm in my a warm jacket and fur which made the walk to uni slightly more bearable. The faux fur stole is actually the one off my Topshop Boyfriend Coat but I tried it on this morning and the fit wasn't too great, the shoulders were quite low down and it bagged out too much at the back. Luckily the stole is detachable so I wore this long blazer from H&M and just wrapped it around my shoulders and you couldn't even tell it wasn't part of the coat. I also wore my grey jumper from Forever 21 which is a nice marl grey textured knit and also really lightweight so perfect for this type of weather when outdoors it's freezing but inside the heating is on overload.

I didn't do a photo of my nails today because I haven't got round to changing them, my week is looking pretty busy and I've got a practical session on Thursday so there's not much point re-doing them before that. I'm also on the look out for some new casual long t-shirts at the moment but I end up buying the same striped ones so definitely need to vary my selection. I've seen a few on ASOS that I quite like but might have to wait till the end of the month when I'm not scraping my bank account for pennies!

Lusting after #4

parka: river island
dress: all saints

I've been hit by a severe case of the flu so I'm sat in bed avoiding facing the cold and feeling very sorry for myself. This has therefore resulted in a severe case of internet shopping which has made me feel even worse as I can't afford to buy any of these things at the moment! When I saw this fur-lined parka on the River Island website my heart skipped a beat. I've been wanting a parka for ages during this awful Leeds weather and the fact this one is fur-lined makes it all the better. It's priced at £90 which is slightly out of my price range at the moment so I've got some saving to do. The Maisie leather dress is also absolutely stunning but is priced at £295 so is something I will never buy! I've been looking for alternative versions in all the shops but I can't find any that are even slightly similar. So I'm going to go and curl up in my duvet and now feel even more depressed!

Bad influences

jumper: primark
jacket: topshop
shoes: converse
earrings: h&m
necklace: topshop
nails: elegant touch matte nails

I'm a strong believer in retail therapy, even if I don't actually buy anything I always feel so much better after walking around the shops. But that's probably just because I'm always interested in seeing what's new in the shops and making a list of everything I want! I ended up have a slight splurge in American Apparel and bought these Disco Shorts which I've seen around for so long but never got round to ever buying. I also bought this Cropped T-shirt which is pretty plain but looks nice with a pair of leggings or shorts. American Apparel is one of those shops I walk into and could pick up everything because the clothes are very basic so I can picture what I'd wear them with and I also love the colours they use. The pricing can be a bit up and down, I reckon they're a little more expensive than Topshop but not ridiculous.

I also re-did my nails with the Elegant Touch Matte Nails and added a white flower on each third finger. The only problem I have with these nails is they're a little short for my liking but I do love the burnt orange colour. I know I haven't really mentioned my outfit but I kinda just threw it on last minute, I've literally been living in this leather jacket as it pretty much goes with everything and is so comfortable. Sometimes I can find leather jackets hard to move around in but this one is perfection. I also love this jumper from Primark because it was only £10 but has a really nice texture and a sort of 'speckled' effect which hasn't really come across in the photographs.

Cruel intentions

dress: river island
belt: river island
shoes: office
watch: michael kors
bow ring: forever 21
lipstick: kate moss rimmel 01

I'm getting so fed up of the rubbish lighting in our house, makes my photos come out really dull so I have to edit them and then it makes them too contrasted. Anyway, went out for a friend's birthday last night and ended up wearing this little LBD which I ordered online a while ago but haven't had the chance to wear it. I felt dead smart last night with my little bow tie and all, usually I just whack on a pair of shorts or something. I was slightly paranoid it was see through as the fabric is quite thin and then I had a Marilyn Monroe moment whilst walking in the wind which I'm sure wasn't pleasant for anyone! I'm really liking all these smart shirts and dresses with the bow ties at the moment though, seen this little leather bow tie in Primark which I really want so gonna keep my eye out for it next time I'm shopping...which no doubt will be soon!

I'm off to another house party tonight so I'm going for the more casual look again, maybe shorts and a lightweight jumper with my new white converse. I also bought some matte red nails which I'm dying to try out so might give them a go later if I have the chance to stick them on before I'm rushed out the door again, hard life being a student!

Nostalgia

top: topshop
earrings: urban outfitters
necklace: topshop
lipstick: mac chili

Got ready in a manic rush last night, completely forgot I was meant to be going to this house party and then had a sudden panic on what to wear. I haven't been to a house party since I was about 15 and I wasn't used to the idea of not wearing huge heels, I felt like a midget all night! It was actually pretty fun though, opted for the casual look but with big hair and a bit of red lippy to brighten things up. I borrowed the vest off my housemate as most of my clothes are in the wash at the moment. I nearly bought this vest the other week but they only had size 6 left and I was never gonna squeeze into that.

Apologies for the lack of variety in photos, as I said I was in a mad rush plus the lighting in our house is awful. I'm back home at the moment, have a hair appointment tomorrow to darken my roots abit more because they've really faded since I had them done and so my roots just look abit dirty rather than ombre. Fingers crossed it goes alright, I actually have a phobia of going to the hairdressers in case I come out bald or something!

Girls just wanna have fun

body: topshop
shorts: topshop
shoes: office
headband: h&m
bow ring: forever 21
aztec ring: primark
lipstick: ladybug mac

I knew the good weather was too good to last, nearly got blown over today by the wind in Leeds walking to uni and the windswept look is never a good one. I went out with my friend Hannah last night for some cocktails and had previously been watching Sex and the City so I was inspired by Carrie's amazing big curly hair. My attempt is obviously not as good but I quite liked it compared to my usually loose waves. I wore my friend's strapless denim-look body which was slightly risky as it kept falling down all night which wasn't great. These are my 'it's fate' shorts which I bought the other day and I'm actually in love with them, they fit like a glove and don't rise up when you walk which we can all relate to. I added the little headband just to enhance the whole 80s playful look, felt like a mini Cyndi Lauper!

I also re-did my nails the other day with these cute little flowers on my third finger, I was tempted to put them on every nail but they can be a pain when they catch onto things all the time so settled for the subtle look. Planning on having a lazy one tonight as I've got a mega long day tomorrow which I need sleep for and I'm just in the mood to eat loads of hot food and curl up with a good movie.

Today I bought #2

shirt: topshop
striped shorts: topshop
pu shorts: h&m
lipglosses: collection 2000

I am still sat up at 2am doing uni work and got incredibly bored so thought I'd switch over to doing a new post instead. Technically this isn't what I bought today and it's now past midnight but whatever. I saw this checked shirt and immediately pictured it with my high-rise denim shorts so couldn't resist. It was £26 and I probably could've found a cheaper alternative but it was there right in front of me so I just got it. The striped denim shorts I have been wanting for ageeees and keep seeing the jeans version but never the shorts. I reckon it was fate (that's gonna be my excuse anyway) because as I was queuing for the changing rooms someone discarded them onto the rack so I immediately grabbed them and they just happened to be my size. It's the same with these PU running style shorts, I saw them on someone ages ago and then randomly came across them in H&M today all on their lonesome so thought I'd give them a good home.

I am aware these lipglosses both look exactly the same shade but the Creamy Puff one is a moisturising matte-look one and smells really good and the Look and Hold one is extra glossy and a little sticky but stays on all night which is a must. The Creamy Puff one is actually more of a lip cream and I bought it in Powder Puff 2 which is a nude shade and can be worn on it's own. The Lock and Hold one is a shade called Rock Steady 3 and I've never used this one before but liked the colour and thought I'd give it a go.

We like short shorts

top: miss selfridge
shorts: topshop
boots: river island

Thought I'd take advantage of the amazing weather we are having at the moment and take some snaps outside plus the lighting in our house is horrendous. Don't get me wrong, I am loving this hot weather but the amount of chavs I have seen walking around topless with their pale hairy chest out is unappetising to say the least. I popped into Leeds town today for a little mooch around, it was so busy and too hot to wear leggings or tights so I went for these camel denim shorts which are slightly high-waisted and don't end up giving me a wedgie. I bought this Maddona vest a while back and it comes in useful when I can't really be bothered but it still makes quite a statement. I do like these vest shapes with the low armholes and a photograph on the front as they can also be worn on nights out with some form of shorts.

I did buy some clothes today which was inevitable, but I'm gonna do a post about them tomorrow as I don't wanna just put links to the items I've bought so I'm gonna take some photos. Planning on having a night in watching X Factor with the girls and probably eating a load of junk food which I really shouldn't be eating but oh well!
